Andrea López
(Mexico City 1976)
She has been exploring through the photography the world of performing arts for 26 years. Andrea´s work has created a new universe of the scenic arts and has obtained a national and international recognition
In 1999 she starts the project "The Diary of a Clown", about the creations of Compagnia Finzi Pasca. Part of this photographic collection is published in the book: Daniele Finzi Pasca, “Teatro de la Caricia”.
She has worked with international companies like Slava’s Snowshow, Jocelyne Montpetit, Cia. Dairakudakan Temptenshiki, Pilobolus, Akhe Group, Cirque Eloize among others.
With Cirque du Soleil she photographs the show Delirium, Dralion and Corteo, and she designed and edited two photo memorial books of the shows Dralion and Corteo. And she also photograph Mexico for inspiration images for the show Luzia.
She created a proyect named Angeles Land about people with Down syndrome and she received an honorable mention by “Fomento Cultural Banamex”
In the Prague Quadrennial 2011 she presented her book "Monica Raya & Andrea Lopez," a photograph searching about the work of the set designer Monica Raya.
It is part of the Association of Italian Art "Terra dell Arte", and is a member of the International Museum of Contemporary Dynamic Art in Italy.
Among the international awards that consolidate highlights the Medal of Honor in
II International Biennial of Graphic Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia and and her participation in the IV International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence and the Biennial of Arad Rumania.
She has presented exhibitions in: Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugual, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain, Cuba, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, United States and Canada.
In 2013 as part of the celebration of her 15 years as a photographer her work was presented in colective exhibitions in Mexico, Italy, Wales and Holland, and in three solo exhibitions on the streets of the Old City of Montevideo Uruguay, at the State University of St. Petersburg, Russia and Mexico City in Toca Gallery.
In 2016 she started the project “Hipotermia” with the mexican dancer Pilar Medina, and two photographic proyect RunAwayGirl and Metropoliz with the canadien dancer Jocelyne Montpetit.
She presented part of this project in may 2016 at Rachmaninov Gallerie in Saint Petersburg Rusia.
In 2025 starts two projects, a book edition with Jocelyne Montpetit of the project Runaway Girl and a photographic project about old age.
