Artistic Practice
A contemporary artist based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Alongside his artistic practice, he works as an acting Captain/Master Mariner on gas tankers. He holds a Ph.D. in Logistics and is the author of several innovative articles published in the international maritime magazine SEAWAYS of the Nautical Institute.
Long sea voyages and the solitude of the open ocean have profoundly shaped his philosophical perspective and artistic language, leading him to develop a conceptual direction called SurIndividualism.
This philosophy explores the unique inner world of every human being while recognizing that each individual remains inseparably connected to the universal whole. SurIndividualism examines the paradox between personal isolation and universal connection. The deepest manifestation of individuality is perceived as surindividuality.
Within this framework, Lomouri introduced the concept of “SUR” as a unit of perceptual depth in painting. “Sur” represents the diversity of interpretations generated by an artwork: if one hundred viewers produce one hundred different interpretations, the painting contains 100 Sur of perceptual depth.
