Huaijin Li is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, installation, performance, writing, and digital media. Her practice explores speculative fictions as a way to probe systems of power, creating narratives that dissolve the boundaries between the natural, the unnatural, and the supernatural. She investigates the shifting borders between psyche and environment, approaching art as an antidote to a world that rigidly separates these realms—often through underwater filming, theatrical installation, and satirical narrative.
Engaging with contemporary ecological and anti-anthropocentric discourses, Li stages works where the irrational, mystical, and elemental operate as counter-forces to neoliberal rationalism. Through immersive, scenic experiences, she reimagines how vulnerability, absurdity, and spiritual renewal can resist structures of control and open new forms of relation with the nonhuman.
She is currently pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at New York University.
