Read MoreAlexandra Kapogianni is a Greek sculptor based in Mainz, Germany. Her work explores the human figure as a place where myth and vulnerability meet. Drawing on classical mythology while embracing deliberate fragmentation, her sculptures reflect on transformation, endurance, identity and states of becoming. Rather than illustrating ancient narratives, she uses myth as a living language through which timeless human experience can be reimagined.
Her practice is rooted in figurative sculpture and shaped by a strong attention to material presence, tactile surfaces and the expressive force of fracture and incompleteness. Kapogianni studied Art History at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and later completed a diploma in sculpture at the IBKK Design and Art Center in Bochum, where she also teaches today. Her work has been presented internationally, including exhibitions in Florence and Venice. Through sculpture, she creates forms in which the archetypal and the deeply human briefly meet.
