Lambert
Kamps (1974) is an artist and designer based in Groningen (The Netherlands).
Lambert studied fashion and design before attending the school of fine arts in
Groningen. His work widely exhibited in galleries, art fairs, and in
site-specific installations or happenings is known for blurring boundaries
between art, architecture, and design.
At
the fashion school, he falls in love with fabrics and the techniques to work
with them. But fashion is designed around the human body and after four years
he wanted to change the subject. Time to go on; the School of fine arts was a
good alternative, sculpture a way to explore new materials and techniques. He
graduated with an inflatable interior sewn of fabric. The in or deflating the
different furniture pieces chanced the function of the room.
As an
independent artist, he started his own studio in 1999, working on assignments and
self-initiated projects in the field of art, design, and architecture. Nowadays
he brings these disciplines closer to each other and it's not only about an
object or an art piece, but it is also about the atmosphere and feeling that the project calls up at the spectator.
