At the age of 24, I began studying traditional Japanese dyeing techniques under Yoshikazu Fujimoto at Fujimoto Dyeing Studio, where I specialized in katazome (stencil dyeing).
My current practice centers on kimono and obi, while exploring the intersection of craft, contemporary art, and antique aesthetics across multiple disciplines.
Using sumigurashi, a traditional marbling technique originally developed for kimono dyeing, I focus on the four classical elements—earth, water, wind, and fire. Through this lens, I seek to reignite a fundamental relationship with nature that has been severed in modern life.
