Remus Irimescu (born 1967) is a Romanian sculptor based in Timisoara. He became known for abstract sculptures made of wood, bronze and stone marked by geometric symbols - like a gallery of artefacts from ancient cultures, timeless and universal at the same time, regardless of the material they are carved or poured into.
Remus Irimescu left his home town of Râmnicu Vâlcea in the late 1980's to study construction engineering in Timisoara but soon turned his attention to the artistic world. Focused on becoming a sculptor he started studying at the Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University of Timisoara, where he also got a master degree in sculpture.
Over the years the artist had several solo and group exhibitions in Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Hungary and Romania; he participated at national and international art salons, art fairs, symposia and art camps. His public artworks are on display in Ómoravica, Serbia (Venus, 2008), and in Romania: in Timisoara (Childhood’s Seat, 2009; Bust of John Hunyadi, 2011; Main Entrance, 2017) and in the nearby village of Covaci (Master, 2008). He is a member of the Romanian Fine Artists Union.
