Marina Gasparini was born in Gabicce Mare (Pesaro and Urbino, Italy). Graduated at the Academy of Fine Art in Ravenna, she lives and works in Bologna. The use of writing and visual emblems coupled with the application of textile are elements with which she has a privileged and constant relationship, although this is subject to continuous reformulation. Her work is mainly based on site-specific installations, often starting from the reformulation of iconographies from different eras and cultures in dialogue with the architectural space. She has participated in artist residency programmes in Rajasthan, Japan, the United States, and Finland. She has been teaching Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice and Bologna . She has also held workshops on the theme of cartography in art at the University of Salamanca; at the Universitade de Lisboa; at Mimar Sinan Universitesi in Istanbul and at PXL Mad University in Hasselt, Belgium; the Oulun Taidemuseo, Oulu, Finland; the Civic Art Center in Galesburg, Illinois; the Rinovation Pro Art Center in Shinano-Omachi, Japan; the Merano Children's Book Archive, and in Festival letteratura Mantova.
