Antonello Ferrara was born in Taranto to a family of sailors and painters. At the age of 10, he was given his first camera, an AgfaPocket.
At 16, he joined the Navy and began travelling the world. In 1992, he was transferred to Augusta, an important naval base of the Navy and home to the largest chemical centre in the Mediterranean. After a few years of political commitment, in anti-mafia (Libera) and environmental (Legambiente) associations, in 2010 he edited the book 'Custodi della nostra Terra' (Guardians of our Earth), published by Akàdemos, which analysed the cancer register in the province of Syracuse.
In 2014, the Navy assigned him to the press office in Rome. This experience brought him back to photography. He attended several courses at CSF Adams and the Roman School of Photography. Since then, he regularly participates in workshops and training courses.
In 2023 he founded the Onirica collective in Catania and became manager of "Onirica Spazio Creativo, a place where exhibitions and photographic training are held.
