As a self-taught pastel artist, I have always had a passion for the texture and versality of the medium.
In 2004-2005, I had entered a local exhibition, but always found more opportunities abroad to make art as well as show art. Most of those opportunities were in other art mediums, such as photography, altars, papier mache and drawing.
In 2020, I rediscovered pastels again. My first painting, Watch over me or Vigílame, has been featured in two shows, The Prairie Village State of Arts 2020 and the Palos Verde Art Center Winter Show 2020. Another painting, Lily Pond, was selected for the Mid America Pastel Society National Exhibition 2020. The selection into these shows has encouraged me to continue along this path. I am also a member of the Mid America Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of America.
In my paintings, priority is given to bold Mexican colors, dancing lights and shadows with a splash of nostalgia and tradition.
