I am Sara Cuticchio, born in Palermo on 07/09/1986 and I come from an artistic family that has been carrying on the Puppet Opera Theater all over the world for four generations. At the age of 18 I decided to move to Padua to begin my university studies in the faculty of Psychology. In 2009 I obtained my first degree in Developmental Psychology, a period in which I began a long internship that will test my psychological and artistic skills and allow me to combine them. For two years I led my first therapeutic groups of children in therapeutic mediation with the Puppets. In 2011 I obtained my second degree in Clinical Psychology and continued to train as an individual and group therapist. From this work I have the opportunity to publish an article in the scientific journal Plexus n.9 of 2012 and to participate in various conferences as a speaker. I subsequently passed the state exam and enrolled in the four-year Coirag specialization school to become an individual, group and institutional psychotherapist in 2017.
Since 2014 I have been working in my private practice as a clinical psychologist and leading private therapeutic groups using Puppets as mediating objects, and since 2017 also as a Psychotherapist, continuing this work. My Puppet Therapy is based on the ideation and construction of the character in the form of puppet (Pupo). The puppet I am referring to resembles the features of the Sicilian Puppet but it is built with materials suitable for childhood: modeled with clay and constructed with coated paper. Working with children in paths included in a continuous creative process has led me to refine artistic techniques and discover a real passion for building puppets. Today I guide children in this artistic journey also in laboratory activities that are not strictly therapeutic and aimed at everyone, in my private studio, in schools, and in other contexts in the world of childhood.
