Marlène Bronzieri is an Italian visual artist working through photography, performance, textile works and video.
Her research is focused on the evolution of female body representation taking into account the influence of colonial stereotype and how the feminist experience led to a path of self-consciousness. Her work investigates issues related to identity reclamation and body politics in contemporary society.
Through the practice of performing self she uses photography as a tool of self-representation. The main subject is the body, often naked, never explicit.
The performative aspect allows her to relate to the outside world without the need for a filter. Particularly through public space, it is possible to invade the everyday life of others and leave a message. Starting from her personal experience, Marlene delves into political and cultural issues, establishing a constant relationship between the traditions of the past and the digital revolution of our present. Through a critical look, the need to stop time emerges, creating a space for reflection for the viewer as well.
