Projects:
Maria is the co-founder of the street art project #adottaunvicolo (Adopt an Alley),
which aims at the urban renewal of Carrara, where the artist currently lives. The project
is self-organised since November 2018, and Bressan contributed - and still contributes to
it with various artworks, including the murals "Voliera" (Aviary) and “Lucy".
In 2019, she created a graphic project titled "Tarocchi in Cammino" (Tarots on the
Road), a personal re-interpretation of the twenty-two Major Arcana.
Artistic Research:
Her artistic research starts with the investigation of the symbol, and both its spiritual and
psychologic potential, in order to comprehend the impact of the Archetype on the
human being. Her artworks draw energy from ancient myths, traditional fairy tales, and
folklore stories.
The animal kingdom and the female figure are channels used by the artist to manifest
her poetic research. On one side, the numerous manifestations of the feminine often
carry the artist' ideals. On the other side, the ideal symbolic representation of the artist
can be encountered in the image of the animal, through its contact with nature and its
generative power, through its instinctive nature and the inclination to deepen.
