Angelina Bong is a poet and visual artist with a background in Fashion. She has read and performed her poetry in Malaysia, South Korea, South Africa, Botswana, UK, Australia, India, Egypt and Japan with some poems translated into Malayalam, Japanese, Korean, French, Malay and Arabic. She is published online and in print including several poetry festival anthologies.
Her visual artworks are inspired by her life experiences, culture, travels, people she meets and her own spiritual discoveries. Using mostly acrylic and mixed media in her paintings, black and white ink illustrations are also one of her favourites; utilising lines and patterns to invent stories. As of recent, she re-visits her fashion days to combine textile techniques such as beading with painting. Some days, she gives orang utan workshops as Art for Conservation. Her most recent workshops were conducted in Fukushima, Japan, September 2019. She is currently the Secretary of Sarawak Artists Society.
She sells most of her creations online and by commissions; occasionally paired with poetry by request. Some of her pieces now reside in homes across the globe in countries like Brunei, Singapore, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, UK, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Germany, United States, Cyprus and etc.
She was in a South Korean writing-art residency and held a solo Art & Poetry exhibition in March and April 2018. She also participated in a joint art exhibition in Foshan, China with other Sarawakian and Chinese artists in October 2018. In March 2019, she was artist in resident at the Atelier, Luxury Resort Datai Langkawi for three weeks. She was recently invited to an international Art Camp in Kedah, Malaysia together with 97 artists from 14 countries in December 2019.
