This painting explores the
conversations we never had in our lifetimes. Things that we want to say but
could not due to circumstances, fear, pride or the walls we have built around
our hearts due to our past. We often fail to articulate what we truly want to
convey and at times, we keep our silence because we are afraid of rejection or
being ridiculed for being different. At times, we look away when we should have
stood up to defend someone or a cause we believe to be right especially when
the majority of the world is against our values. Of course, there are times
when silence is more prudent than being engaged in conversations but still,
there is the lingering effect of what could have been should we have spoken to
each other.
The colourful lines weaving through
each other, entangling along the way express the connection we have with every
single person we meet and the conversations that never take place. There may be
a reason for us to meet this or that person but we never try to connect the
dots. So, the conversations remain floating in our head without depth, like the
lines without being immersive into the background. What would it be like if we
had try to build a dialogue, face the giants and countless unknowns instead of
running away?
