Michael Blochberger’s sculptures are the result of an extraordinary, lifelong journey through design, psychology and materials.
After completing his studies as a graphic designer in 1975, he shaped the advertising industry for three decades – twenty of those as the successful founder and managing director of his own agency. Despite managing large project budgets, he felt a growing need for free, purely creative expression beyond commercial constraints.
The turning point that followed led him into the world of psychology. After completing a three-year coaching training course, he founded the CIT Institute in 1997. For 25 years, he worked as a trainer, helping executives to integrate emotional and social skills into their daily lives. This profound exploration of the human soul now forms the foundation of his art.
Since 2022, Blochberger has devoted himself entirely to sculpture. In the physical, artisanal shaping of wood and stone, he has found the ideal medium for processing deep-seated human experiences, wounds and longings. His work is a form of Gestalt therapy: within the interplay of these two natural materials, he translates fleeting emotional states into a minimalist, powerful visual language.
His sculptures are conceived as spaces of resonance. They aim to evoke empathy in the viewer, encourage quiet self-reflection, and spark a dialogue on the universal themes of closeness, comfort and trust.
