Born in 1980, Monika Błaszkowska is an award-winning architect, artist, and designer recognized internationally for her work in 3D collage techniques.
Her artistic achievements were acknowledged by the European Commission for Culture and Arts at the Venice Architecture and Art Biennale in 2018, where she received a special distinction for her exhibited designs, including an amber lamp, a resin table, and an illuminated installation that was showing silk worms cocoons.
In 2019, she was awarded the **People’s Choice Award** at *The Design, Dine & Make a Difference* exhibition in Dubai for her interactive panel *“Irreversible Impact.”* This piece highlighted genetic changes in the domesticated silkworm caused by generations of captivity.
As an innovator, Monika holds four patents in the field of sustainable building materials. She has developed:
- **NØD** – decorative panel made from walnut shells,
- **PLASTRYKO** – boards crafted from recycled PET bottles,
- **Natural Cork Terrazzo**, decorative panel made from leftovers from the cork production
- **NEW MARMUR** – a composite panel created from recycled textiles.
In 2023, in duet - she and designer Tomasz Kargul received recognition at **AMBERIF SELECTION** in Gdańsk for their jewelry collection combining Baltic amber with **PLASTRYKO** eco-material, encouraging discussions on sustainability by blending recycled plastics with precious metals.
Moka was also nominated for the **RoGUILTLESSPLASTIC Award** in Milan in 2023, a prestigious international initiative inspiring designers to transform plastic waste into innovative creations. Her walnut-shell table *“NØD – You Are Never Too Small to Make a Difference”* was among the nominees. The international jury, after reviewing her table, moved it from the "Technology" competition category to the "Art" category.
Her artistic work integrates minerals, amber from around the world, fossils, and animal skeletons, driven by her deep interest in geology, biology, genetics, and the origins of the universe. Each year, she expands her collection of natural curiosities, emphasizing the idea that nature is the first and ultimate designer.
Through her art, Monika not only sparks discussions about environmental conservation but also redefines recycling, turning discarded materials into extraordinary works of art.
