Ángel Benito Gastañaga is a Spanish visual artist based in Vitoria-Gasteiz. His practice is primarily centered on painting, with drawing serving as the foundation of his creative process. He also works occasionally in illustration, comics, and sculpture, broadening the expressive range of his artistic language.
After studying Applied Arts, Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Advertising, he chose to dedicate his career to artistic creation, with painting becoming the central focus of his work.
Over the years, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has also undertaken occasional sculptural projects, including a public work in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
His work has received a Honorable Mention from The Almenara Collection and has been selected as a finalist in the Mod Portrait International Competition. In 2026, he was also selected as a finalist for the Target Prize, taking part in the finalists' exhibition at the Ateneo de Madrid.
His artistic practice is driven by the creation of a distinctive visual universe in which each work connects with the others, gradually forming an expanding and interconnected body of work.
Through painting, he creates images open to multiple interpretations, weaving together imagination, memory, and lived experience. He is currently focused on deepening this ongoing exploration, developing an increasingly personal and coherent visual language.
