Pietro Belotti (1966) lives and works in Grumello del Monte (IT).
His interests start from considerations about the pi- ctorial surface: from what is depicted on it to how much the technique can define the representation. With the study of a special technique called “impri- mitura” of the canvas, the surface becomes a concept, a language, a code.
Through his practice the artist tries to understand how language works, and how much it can take us away from reality or bring us closer to it through me- taphor, possibilities and potential for expression. While his first works of art were paintings and graphi- cs, today the artist uses a variety of media, ranging from painting to photography, video, sculpture and books.
The awareness of the border represented by language - understood as a surface that separates people and mediates reality - is one of the priorities on which the latest artworks are focused.
The artist is attached to a complex of symbols alien to a shared codification, which in his productions reveal alternative and surreal layers of reality, giving to the artist the opportunity to work on the tautology of the symbol.

Pietro Belotti (1966) vive e lavora a Grumello del Monte (IT).
