Federico Battistin uses clear and
precise features to represent his vision of the world. Born in
Vittorio Veneto, a small town in the Italian pre-Alps, his nature is
immediately predisposed to the discovery of the nature that surrounds
him with which he generates a maternal connection to the point of
making it almost an ideal refuge in the dark moments of life and a
place to feel better when everything is already flowing.
After completing his studies in
Architecture in nearby Venice, he decides to venture into the world
to discover new places where he can still feel at home, even if
always in a different way; the knowledge of the fresh woods and rocks
of the mountains pushes him to seek new sensations in the ocean. The
choice falls on Central America where he spends five long months
discovering the waves of the Pacific and the crystalline Atlantic in
the Caribbean Sea where he makes surfing and scuba diving his
favorite tools to discover the new ecosystem, aquatic world to him
resonating immediately, almost feeling part of the liquid once
immersed in its enveloping embrace, which cleans away anything
unwanted and regenerates a new light of tranquility between the
fibers.
Every sensation and emotion is
imprinted in every cell of his body which feels the need to imprint
it on paper to transmit it to people who are reluctant to give vent
to the curiosity necessary to discover marine nature from the inside.
The result is a linear style certainly
coming from his university training, identifying the curves formed by
the moving fluid by means of orthogonal section lines to the horizon
that extend in the direction of the movement of the water.
The technique of drawing on paper is an
easy and practical form of representation to be transported and
performed while traveling but his intention is to represent nature so
much his friend in a material with which he can transmit to the
observer its fragility as well as beauty of the play of reflections,
lights and shadows that make it so magical but at the same time
without to forget to use a comune, contemporary and modern support.
It is during his prolonged stay in New
Zealand that he begins to engrave plasterboards previously covered
with a layer of black color, the technique immediately convinces him
and the artist is surprisingly amused and stimulated in rediscovering
the shining white of plaster from under the artificially distributed
black evenly on the smooth surface, the dark-colored cleaning action
revives those feelings of freedom and emotions of natural happiness
experienced during direct contact with the salt water of the oceans,
with forests, woods and mountains that have always been explored
around the place of birth as a child and young boy, rediscovering
within himself that purest part that is present within the human
being. Process reflecting also a
sense of rebirth and freshness as when in the life of each of us we
remove something superfluous that obscures our nature, restoring
balancing and energyzing ours lives.
Obviously,
the technique is immediately used in the representation of all the
natural ecosystems by the artist so much loved and, during subsequent
times still in the Alps, the white is still freed from the dark layer
until the rocks and the penetrating light are discovered in the
plasterboards the woods and forests.
Now,
back in Europe, Federico is dedicating all his time producing his art
surrounded by the nature of the Alps .
