I grew up on Eastern Long Island, surrounded by beaches and farmland. My work is shaped by memories from those years. Grounded in my years of plein air painting, and the spontaneity it requires, my objective is to strike a balance between realism and abstraction through color, light, texture, and form.  Inspired by the works of Matisse, Diebenkorn, and Nathan Olivieri, I portray the feelings that the images evoke in me, merging the subject matter with a sense of time and place in their simplest form.
