Magdalena Baran (b. Przemyśl, Poland) is a visual artist whose practice bridges ancient dyeing techniques with contemporary intuitive abstraction. With a strong formal foundation, she earned her diploma as a Graphic Design Technician from the High School of Fine Arts in Jarosław (2011) and holds a Master of Arts degree from the Faculty of Sculpture (2018).
Following her academic education, Baran consciously shifted away from traditional spatial forms to develop a highly independent and meditative artistic practice. Drawing upon her multidisciplinary background, she now focuses on time-consuming, organic processes using traditional pigments. Her current work is deeply rooted in art informel and Bergsonian philosophy, treating historical craftsmanship as a medium to explore the collective unconscious and the pure essence of the creative act.
During her academic years, she participated in several group exhibitions, including Przestrzeń i czas (Space and Time, architectural-sculptural design), Przestrzeń zarysowana (Outlined Space, drawing), and the intermedia exhibition Babilon.
Baran currently works independently in Poland, where she continues her intuitive exploration of form and color, creating abstract works that reject literal figuration in favor of universal, timeless emotional expression.
