MAXIME BAGNI (Paris, 1997) is a French-Italian visual artist and writer, graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD).
The artist conceives the installation as a groundwork, a concealed architecture, an interior narrative specific to objects whose appearance comes into contact with the ordinary, in the search for displacement. The artwork emerges from architectures and sites :
(Solo show : Wherever River, 437,445 sq yd. exhibition space in a secular monument, Auray, France)
from foreign an European sites that triggers the artist :
(Solo show : On-Site-Objects/Site-Objekte, in Atelierhaus of Prenzlauer Promenade, 2020, Berlin, Germany
-Suncheon Bay Garden, Art Residency, No Light Zone Project, April 2019, Suncheon / South Corea)
By resonance of the works with contexts linked to the exhibition sites or by a dialogue with the form of the spaces that hosts the installations, the objects take on an identity that preserves the memory of real and daydreamed places.
The artiste creates forms in which materiality dialogues with territories. The installations dialogues ( by the scale or physical precesses) with the body of the viewer. The living and environnemental surroundings are taken into account, with the sculptures reacting to natural elements such as the heat. Thought electrical and chemical processes, great sense of observation and an unexpected way of performing the objects and the spaces, Maxime Bagni develops a new language of the materiality, in which political, poetical and cultural aspects are combined and restructured.
