Alina Aldea is a Romanian artist, born in Tâșnad, in the north-west of Romania. She currently lives and works in Bucharest, the capital city.
Alina graduated the Sculpture section from The University of Art Bucharest, in 1999. Upon graduation, she enrolled in postgraduate studies such as In-Depth Studies and Master Degree, all at Bucharest Art University and since 2011 is Doctor of Visual Arts.
Her concerns for art led for an applied and theoretical-scientific approach towards it. By developing the doctoral thesis "The reason of the bed in the visual arts of the twentieth century”, she went thru almost every single meanings and aesthetic visions of the elements placed at the junction between practical and aesthetic.
Alina has a wide specter of visual manifestation, ranging from sculptures, to installation, abstract graphics to interior design, creating with accuracy strong interdependencies between all these art forms of exploration.
The large and diverse array of artistic manifestation enabled her to gain valuable exposure of related techniques, choice of textures and materials, which all added to an enhanced understanding of all related interconnections.
Over the years she took part in national and international group exhibitions: 2021 - Drawing Room Lisbon in the section focused on the Berlin’s Galleries, comissioned by Jan-Philipp Fruehsorge, Sociedade National de Beles Artes, Lisbon, Portugal; 2021 - "Promenade. A virtual walk through the realm of drawing." curated by Jan - Philipp Fruehsorge, Drawing Room, https://drawingroom.es; 2020 - APS MDINA CATHEDRAL CONTEMPORARY ART BIENNALE - “Regaining A Paradise Lost”, Mdina, Malta.; 2019 - “The National Salon of Contemporary Art”, S.E.N.A.T., sculpture section, Combinatul Fondului Plastic, curator Reka Csapo Dup, Bucharest, Romania; in 2019 “Fresh Legs” at INSELGALERIE in Berlin, Germany; in 2017 the 12TH Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Italy where she was present at the Finalists Exhibition, Venice, XIth Florence Biennale in Italy where Alina received 5th Prize, Drawing, Calligraphy and Print section. Also she had several personal exhibitions, the last one being in Bucharest in 2022 - “Alter Reality”, PoP-Up Space @ Slătineanu 29, Anaid Art Gallery, curator Diana Dochia, București; 2022 - “BUTTERFLY EFFECT”, Anaid Art Gallery, curator Diana Dochia, Berlin, Germany; 2020 - “CELLS”, Anaid Art Gallery, curator Diana Dochia, Bucharest, Romania; 2019 - „SECRET GARDEN”, Palatele Brâncovenești, Cuhnia Gallery, curator Diana Dochia, Mogosoaia, Romania; 2019 - „OUT OF THE BLACK. EXPERIMENT X”, at Kube Musette Gallery, curator Diana Dochia, Bucharest, Romania in 2019. Other notable exhibitions are: 2016 - Out of Borders - Venice International Experimental Art Festival, Italy; 2005 - The Japan-Romania Cultural Exhibition at the Tokyo, Metropolitan Art Space Exhibition Gallery, Japan; 2003 - Lulea Summer Biennial, Sweden; 2003 - Dante’s International Biennial XIVth Edition from Ravenna, Italy; 2002 - Visual Arts International Fair, TNB, Bucharest, Romania; 1998 - International Arts Saloon, Resita, Romania. Additionally, Alina’s work has been recognized through the award of the following awards: 2004 - Decorative Art Award at Contest- Exhibition arTINERET, Bucharest, Romania; 2001 - „Arts of Fire” Exhibition, Metal Section Award, Bucharest, Romania; 2001 - 3rd place at the „Accents and Fingerprints” Contest-Exhibition, sculpture section, Bucharest, Romania; 1999 - Atelier 35 Award, Constanta, Romania.
In the permanent collection of the Museum of Contamporary Art in Bucharest are two of her bronze works, “Anonyms” acquired in 2001 and “Anonymous” acquired in 2007.
