This is an AI-driven therapy experience, currently available on Windows. We are developing the VR version, which will be released in mid-August.
Drawing on Jungian shadow theory and VIA 24 Character Strengths, we create this therapeutic experience to facilitate self-analysis process.
We invite players to restore a dried-up dark river with their words about themselves, embarking on a journey of the shadow self. Unlike typical games or narratives, the motivation driving the game forward is related to the player’s self analysis.
This project explores generative narrative healing experiences. Due to my background in filmmaking, I realized that narrative itself is a way to organize memories and psychological structures. Psychological research also shows that storytelling helps people find meaning in their life experiences, construct identity, and cope with trauma. This research highlights the importance of narrative healing experiences, with AI enabling the generative and personalized aspects.
In this project, we set the narrative in the context of a boat journey through a river in search of a Giant Fish, as a personal narrative journey exploring the shadow self. There will be generative content based on player input, psychological logic and prompt engineering.
The project uses GPT and SpeechGen API for AI integration. The process includes prompt engineering combined with psychological logic design.
