This sound and digital creation addresses the issue of multi-perspectivism raised by the ecological crisis. Multi-perspectivism asserts that absolutely all the elements that inhabit an environment are defined by a certain perspective on that environment, a certain relationship with it, a certain function in the ecosystem. In this new exhibition, u2p050 attempts a horizontal transfer of perspectives (human, animal, plant, mineral and technological) from these different worlds.
To explore this concept, the studio u2p050 worked directly at the Vieux-Salins de Hyères, an exceptional natural site and bird reserve on the Mediterranean coast. For several months, u2p050 made visual and sound recordings of the activities that take place on the site, be they human, animal, plant, mineral or technological. They observed and recorded this place by multiplying the techniques and points of view like so many interpretations of reality, witnesses of the richness and complexity of this environment.
Today, this natural reserve coexists with various human activities that disrupt the preservation missions of the place. In an area of only three or four square kilometres, there is an international airport with 500,000 annual passengers, one of the busiest amusement parks in the region, a beach popular with kitesurfers, and rows of holiday homes, campsites and hotels...
The result of this research takes the form of a multimedia and plastic installation developed in collaboration with the scenographer Amalia Jaulin. It attempts to give us the opportunity to perceive and think about metaphysics that are intertwined and do not privilege any one point of view on the world, where no one among the plankton, the pink flamingo and the pope prevails over the others. No one.
