Inside a transparent circle, small steel spheres move in a fluid, hypnotic motion — drawn by an invisible force. The movement is generated by a hidden magnet on the back of the artwork, controlled by an Arduino microcontroller and a servo motor.
The trajectory of the spheres — never identical, never chaotic — ends by striking small ceramic supports that emit variable notes, depending on the speed and force of impact.
The work references and reinterprets the tradition of programmed art, particularly Davide Boriani’s magnetic surfaces, merging mechanical precision with the poetry of circular motion and the resonance of matter.
Magnetic Orbit is a visual and acoustic journey through magnetism as a force both natural and artificial, rational and emotional.
A field of energy where the invisible takes shape — and voice.
