This work is a new stage in my research on the impact of visual content on human perception. The first stages of research were:
1) study of camera movement and depth of perspective (tested on a series of Living Landscapes);
2)
study of the psycho-emotional impact of the human face and the energies
transmitted by the eyes (tested on a series of Living Portraits);
The water video is the third stage, focusing on movement, shape, texture, play with color and light.
Water
is a unique and versatile material for creating a variety of video
content. Interacting with air and light, it takes on a wide variety of
forms that you want to touch, taste or revise over and over again.
I
used the story of the replication of the universe to build a
storytelling: the video begins with primordial chaos, when in the light
of a newborn star, water and air split into sea and atmosphere. Then the
storm calms down, and we are transported under the water, where we see
how light and air help to give birth to life, which develops from the
simplest forms to humans.
Each frame is unique in its own way, has
its own shape, color, and rhythm.
There is no VFX or CG in the
video. I shot each frame myself during my outdoor quarantine in the
summer of 2020. I didn't have a film crew. For some shots I had to invent special devices.
I used a GoPro, a Lumix GH5, telescope and a Laowa 24mm lens, I didn’t
use studio shots or artificial lighting.
In the future, I plan to acquire better equipment for larger and more expensive underwater filming.
