Ofofo is a socially engaged art project that transforms the discarded remains of a failed capitalist venture—abandoned shared bicycles—into a site of collective play and participation. It shifts from linear motion (transportation) to cyclical play (the carousel), requiring collaborative effort to function.
More than a playground, Ofofo is an educational platform, especially for left-behind children in rural areas. Through hands-on workshops, children learn by doing—using tools, assembling structures, and reclaiming space. This shifts them from passive recipients of knowledge to active creators, fostering problem-solving skills and a sense of agency.
Ofofo merges art, play, and education, turning failure into collective renewal. It challenges consumerist waste and expands learning through play, cultivating resilience, creativity, and community engagement.
