Zenit is the point on the celestial sphere directly above the observer—the highest point in the sky. Since it depends on the observer’s position on Earth, the zenith is never the same for everyone.
Zenit is also the title of this wall sculpture, created from 38 Russian-made "Zenit" cameras. By its form, the work evokes the idea that faith can be different, special, and unique for each individual. For the authors, who connect the symbol of Orthodoxy with Russia—and in this case, with the Russian Zenit camera—the piece suggests the emergence of a new kind of faith: a religion interwoven with social networks, Instagram, and contemporary systems of communication. Here, the photo camera becomes both a symbol and an essential element of this new belief.
