"Walls" is an
installation consists of 126 unique stone reliefs, made in the form of the facade
of a typical eight floors block building of Khrushchev era in Russia. Each relief is
individually casted and painted by the artist. The text and drawings used are images
found on the Internet and on the streets of Moscow: graffiti, anonymous
revelations, poems, street philosophy, graffiti.
The walls of houses are filled with pictures and text,
like the pages of a book. This is a public speaking space, one of the few
remaining in Russia, where person is still free to express himself. As a rule, these
drawings and texts are painted over very quickly, therefore their preservation
is an important task, it is part of our culture and time, urban folklore. The
facades themselves are a symbol of time and environment, to which the artist
and many of his contemporaries belong.
