Velosaurus predax is a specimen from the Cyclodermiste bestiary, a parallel taxonomy of creatures assembled exclusively from salvaged bicycle components. Its skeleton is a carbon fiber fender, its skull shaped by layered mudguards, its fangs formed from brake levers and derailleur teeth. The creature is caught mid-stalk, body arched low, weight forward. In Cyclodermisme, the mechanical object does not become an animal through transformation, it reveals what it always was. Velosaurus predax has simply stopped pretending to be a bicycle.
