The work symbolises the migration to Switzerland in 1950 of Italians who worked as bricklayers. One can symbolically see the cardboard of a Swiss brand that took advantage of Italian know-how to make a name for itself and a career, and the umbrella that symbolises the stereotype of the Italian do-nothing of which so many were victims. In the cardboard is a mixture of bitumen and cement, materials used in the 1950s to develop roads and footpaths.
