Delicate Obsession
Delicate Obsession is a collaborative triptych by Klaus Wiechenthaler, uniting Helena Bednorz Klaus' contemporary figurative charcoal drawing with Peter Wiechenthaler's hand-worked sculptural glass.
The work explores the fragile nature of human perception through the dialogue between transparency and opacity, presence and absence. Fragmented into three intimate details—an eye, a face, and a mouth—the portrait resists completion. Instead, identity emerges only through the viewer's movement, as layers of glass refract light and continuously transform the image.
Rather than serving as a protective surface, the glass becomes an active medium. It conceals and reveals simultaneously, creating shifting spatial depth and allowing the portrait to exist between painting and sculpture, object and illusion.
Delicate Obsession reflects the way memory and desire rarely exist as complete images. Like an obsession, the portrait remains just beyond reach—constantly changing, inviting the viewer to look again and discover something new with every encounter.
