The Transition 4.8.TORSO is one from the series the Transformation. The cycle is a sculptural exploration of the body as a space of passage between matter and emotion, presence and trace.
The cycle consists of eight torsos made of transparent epoxy resin, tinted to a deep, semi-translucent black. Each piece is a cast of the artist’s own body, stripped of the head and lower legs, removing individuality and transforming the form into a universal symbol, an archetype of the body.
The sculptures are suspended on steel cables running through their structure, simultaneously supporting and constraining them, creating a tension between weight and suspension.
The most significant element of the series is the subtle, sequential movement of the hands. In each sculpture, the hands gradually move along the body, from a resting position upward, revealing and concealing the breast. This gesture, reminiscent of film stills, forms a visual narrative of transformation, an intimate process of unveiling and withdrawal.
Arranged in a circular formation, the torsos create a sculptural choreography: a rhythm of transition that moves from closure toward openness, from tension toward release.
The material plays a crucial role in shaping the meaning of the work. Epoxy resin, both synthetic and visually organic, becomes a metaphor for the contemporary body: fragile yet enduring, present yet elusive.
The Transition TORSO cycle reflects on the body as a carrier of memory and experience, a trace of existence and a record of transformation.
