By 2024, with the Trans Inside exhibition the artists explored the idea of traversing an inner space, here represented by the long corridor of the Seriate Virgilio Carbonari exhibition hall, symbolizing both an internal journey and a passage between human beings. Fabric sheets delineated additional zones housing poetic-visual installations. The theme of the "scarto" (the italian word that can mean waste, as well as gap) was explored, not only in terms of discarded materials (one entire section was occupied by worn-out clothing, commented by verses) but also as discontinuity, as the margin left open to indeterminacy and the unknown: e.g. a delay in a video projection that plays back the exhibition on a time-lag; a poetry barely audible amid the spontaneous noise of the audience; polysemous words of an underwater poem. Public is invited to animate live spaces where the artworks try to represent the gap and discontinuity of our world experience.
The trans-inside experience is a transit, a movement through an in-between space —neither inside nor outside — like a shared, communal space where we are surprisingly caught between anticipation and delay. It is the discontinuity we try to mend, yet never fully succeed. (Trans Inside, Virgilio Carbonari Hall Seriate Bergamo 2024)
At the entrance, a poem expresses the anticipation of crossing and transformation, as a poetics of the marginal.
Trans-inside
fermi siamo ad aspettare il vento
sempre carico di attraversamenti
all'improvviso vediamo l'onda arrivare
dall'orizzonte del cielomare
Trans-inside
we stand still waiting for the wind
with traversals always laden
suddenly we see the wave arriving
from the horizon of the sky-sea
