My artistic practice is driven by the themes of mundaneness and control in the digital world, currently centering on the body and digital devices as vessels for emotions. In Spinal Cord, two clumps of unplugged cable from a computer power supply box hang in the air. Each strand of cable is made and coiled with mesh wire and thin aluminum wire. A video projection continuously displays a stream of digital screen noise. The projection light illuminates the cables, casting shadowy forms on the wall reminiscent of spinal cords. This visual metaphor evokes the role of the spinal cord as the body's control center, translating brain signals into actions and coordinating automatic reflexes. It prompts reflection on the interconnectedness of everything within the vast digital ecosystem.
Single-channel video installation, 1 minute 59 seconds, on loop. Computer cable (inner cable) replicas are suspended in the air. They are made of wire and mesh wire, with each strand of cable meticulously coiled by hand, resembling springs. The video projection casts spinal cord-like shadows.
