Security Blankets

Security Blankets consists of appropriated and altered images that are printed on mural-sized soft fleece blankets, contrasting the safety of the child’s object with threatening images related to the theme and emotions of security and insecurity. A contrast is deliberately made between provocative image content and the comforting tactile experience of touching super-soft blankets. The intent is to confound the positive and negative emotional tensions attached to the word "security."
