The artwork “AUGUST” has been created as a part of decorative series of installations “seasons”. The main idea of working on this series was to create dimensional vibrant pieces of art that would suit large scale interiors thus bring life and color into cold , concrete walls that surround our life.
The biggest inspiration to create these type of works for me was when I saw a big stain glass piece created by Mark Chagall for United Nations in New York. The vibrancy of the color highlighted by the light made me think of using this effect of transparency of paint to enhance impact of color on the viewer. Instead of using glass as a surface I decided to experiment on the transparent plastic. First pieces of artworks in this technique has been done by cutting ,straightening and melting plastic bottles. Later I made bigger pieces out of specially ordered sheets of plastic from the factory. Unusual effect of depth by melting plastic sheets painted with alcohol inks gave me a freedom of experiment. Glass like effect of distortion of shapes and ability of this specific material to work with it in expressive manner mesmerized and inspired me on eternal experiments with the shape, color and subject.
Layers of plastic inserted into round frame 71 cm in diameter and 28 cm deep. This art work is powered by the LED light but could be also installed in front of windows creating stain glass effect but in a completely new spin.
