In October 2020 I exhibited Pensieri sulla Paura in the “Restart La Giusta Distanza” festival of the anti-mafia cultural association DaSud.
2020 was the year of many changes, in the perception we have of ourselves, relationships, family, friendships and our life goals.
The relationships were limited and questioned, in fact I was unable to do the embroidery workshops due to the restrictions that were in force.
In addition to being a health crisis, it had become a crisis of relationships, of fear of getting close to others.
However, what I noticed is that a profound desire has emerged to return to knowing each other more carefully, to understand and listen to each other with understanding and compassion.
2020 was the year we all truly felt what it meant to be AFRAID.
So I decided to delve deeper into this feeling and investigate the feelings of others as well.
The question I ask strangers is this “What comes to mind if I tell you Fear?”
Receiving people's thoughts is a gift that must be cherished, and taking care of something is manifested for me through embroidery: an ancient artisan technique that is refined and at the same time simple and delicate.
Embroidering means fixing, keeping the word or thought that is given to you.
Hanging the Pensieri Ricamati like clothes hanging out to dry in the sun and wind, among the streets of the city, becomes a gesture that attempts to re-share the gift received, with others and with the city.
