Mother
SYNOPSIS
Memory (from the Latin memoria, derived from memor – “mindful, remembering”): the capacity, common to many living organisms, to retain a more or less complete and lasting trace of experienced external stimuli and the responses associated with them. In humans, this function reaches its highest level of organization. The term refers both to the ability to preserve information related to events, images, sensations, ideas, and experiences, and to recall them once the original stimulus has ceased, recognizing them as past states of consciousness.
SCULPTURE
Through memory, we preserve the information received from external stimuli. We recall experiences through psychological and neurophysiological mechanisms. We continuously record new information, preserving our personal history through the construction of identity.
This motherboard, once a repository of data and information, has been immersed in solidified resin and preserved as if it were an archaeological artifact from the future. By transforming a technological object into a timeless relic, the work reflects on memory, permanence, and the ways in which contemporary societies archive their existence.
