Masculinity Performativity

Masculine Performativity is a moving image, performance, and wearable device project that examines how masculinity is shaped through bodily discipline. Using satire, instructional language, and custom-made correction devices, the work transforms expectations of posture, gesture, movement, and expression into a visible system of rules. By exaggerating these everyday standards, the project critiques how patriarchal power trains bodies to appear authoritative, controlled, and socially recognisable, revealing masculinity not as a natural identity, but as a continuous process of rehearsal, correction, and adaptation.
