This installation of three sculptures, side by side and in electric blue, is inspired from the French artist Yves Klein. These three sculptures show the hybrid personalities of Klein and explores the complexity of human identities. On the left, the back of the sculpture colored in electric blue shows the intensity and weight of our life. The face and chest to the bottom of the legs covered in electric blue demonstrate our forward looking mindset, filled with decisive steps in the direction of the future. And the sculpture on the right demonstrates our determination to concentrate on one single and primary objective: a life which is fulfilled and intense. The artist here is using a monochrome blue engobe and the brilliance of the pigment to emphasis the intensity of our life. A difficult color to work with as the clay absorbs the pigments, but a fascinating contrast with the black clay. The sculptures sits on vintage cubes from the 70s, the artist’s identity and common thread across the majority of her sculptures. The cubes represent our roots, our education, our baggages accumulated in our childhood and adulthood. A mosaic of experiences and memories we carry our entire life.
