The installation consists of
five sculptures made with driftwood. I create my sculptures out of
wood I find on the seashore. Exposed for a long time to different
seasons and weather, to storm, snow, wind and rain, this wood came
down from wells, streams, rivers to finally end up floating in the
sea.
After having been modelled and
polished by the waves, this wood is washed up on the beaches before
it finally ends up in my hands.
Driftwood, being animated
with stories from its long journey, is my impulse and artistic
inspiration through the forms encountered with nature.
Around this installation I want
to create a singular emotion, raise a question about the human being
and the expression of the respective body. There is a correlation
between the material given, the random shapes proposing themselves to
me and my work giving back value to the material.
The representation of these five
characters is expressed by different postures, thoughtful, dreamy,
disturbed and flayed. We can imagine another future metamorphosis …
the return to flesh.
The video attached would be part of the overall installation, (Projection in the background).
