History has a physicality in walls that have not completely collapsed.
Created in 2022, Le mur d'Aiôn is halfway between a brick wall and a collection of images or photographs. It is the physical idea that a concrete wall ages differently from a stone wall; that the modernity of buildings fades more quickly over time, unlike the traditions of ramparts and towers.
Each brick has its own image, just like the work as a whole: the image of a landscape in constant metamorphosis, faster than normal; the image of the modernity of a sector and the tradition that struggles to maintain a place in it; the image of time affecting the material and of geometric constructions fading into it. At the centre of each piece, a relief, a stone, protrudes from the surface. It's tradition, struggling to survive, the charming irregularity of rock, trapped by modernity, angles and smooth surfaces.
Le mur d'Aiôn is an experiment in the passage of time, in the actions and stories that happen around it and with it. Made of lightweight concrete, it shrinks with time. The day will come when the image of modernity will give way to tradition. The stone, still whole, will outlive us, carrying the secrets of our lives, of those who carried them, of those who saw them.
