Originally working in printmaking, I began exhibiting both the carved blocks and their printed results to explore ideas such as “multiplicity from a single source” and “the coexistence of opposites.” Over time, I shifted to presenting the block itself as the artwork.
In this series, I hand-carve images generated through coding, solidifying them as sculptural forms. Generative shapes created by computers follow rules yet remain unpredictable—much like human behavior. We, too, are shaped by countless choices and coincidences, often beyond our own intentions.
By capturing the moment where opposites intersect—order and chaos, calculation and craft, inorganic and organic—I seek to question the relationship between generation and creation, and to find beauty even in what is not conventionally considered beautiful.
