La Root installation work was exhibited at Liu Cheng Hua's first solo exhibition at G13 Gallery in Kuala Lumpur in 2012. The artwork emphasis on the 40 first things that established in 1800s to late 1900s in Larut, a tin mining town in Perak state of Malaya. Liu tried to highlighted the first Post and Telegraph Office, Police Force, Armed Force, Fire Brigade, Recreation Club, Teacher's College, English School, Airport and many more that build during British colonial and expended to the whole Malaysia later on. The word Larut was origin spelled as La Root in the Perak old map gave the meaning of the root, hometown/ homeland, starting point and others.
