Kancamagus Highway is three dimensional object that exists as painting, sculpture, and installation. In it’s simplest form it is a rectangular wooden frame covered with OSB plywood panels - a box. However, once unpacked, the panels unfold to reveal an abstract map-like painting designed to highlight the unusual geometric pattern of the OSB. The unfolded painted can be arranged in any configuration based on the architecture of the space. The individual panels can be sold separately and replaced. The painting desigN is algorithm-based and comes from a mathematical theorem about maps that states that every map can be coloured using only four colours.
