“Afghanistan.. footprint, trail, mark ... path"
Afghanistan is a country of contrasts, of sensations, a country of resilient people, with a lot of light, a lot of color, multilingual, where many ethnic groups live under the same religion Islam.
The project consists of eight textile art pieces and installation; each of the pieces is a conceptual a representation under my gaze of the different elements that represents Afghanistan and its people; the topics choose are nature, textile tradition, to woman, sport, war and the exile that it’s represented in this collection.
Most of the piece are hand-crafted using 100% wool felt as the relationship it has with the country and textile, since felt is the main material used by nomadic tribes and it is elaborated with the wool of the flocks of sheep that accompany the pastures and also was looking to work with a material in the way allow to experiment with a non-woven textile material stands out for being a light and moldable material that has allowed me to work the volume and create this collection of textile sculptures.
Gunshot, is a textile sculpture made from laminate 100 % wool felt sheet perforated, the holes represent the bullet belts worn by Mujahideen fighters in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, 1987 and the little balls are the bullets itself.
