The opening chapter of a ten-part serial research project on perception, this polyptych and modular composition investigates geometric decomposition and chromatic interaction. The circle is explored in all its variations — whole, sectioned, or reduced to a concentric texture —, sliding from one panel to another in a perpetual movement amplified by reliefs that capture the light and create real shadows. The driving force of the work is the viewer’s retinal reaction: the structural contrast between the dark backgrounds and the hyper-saturated neon colors generates a strong optical tension, making the shapes float in space. In this interplay of tensions and vibrations, color transcends the static nature of the medium to become a physical and psychological experience, a transient event fulfilled only through the gaze.
